(OOC: so this isn’t really a ask thing, but this popped into my head when I checked out teenlantern’s blog and OMG ADORABLE. I JUST HAD TO, DON’T JUDGE ME. IT IS TAKING ALL OF MY WILL NOT TO DRAW MORE OF HER.)

Hope Corgi is at it again.

Hope Corgi needs to be a canon Lantern.

I’m reading his lines in the voice of Dug from Up.

In fearful day, in raging night,
with strong hearts full, our souls ignite!
When all seems lost in the War of Light,
look to the stars, for hope burns bright!

You want to know something weird?
I don’t watch GLTAS, though I’ve heard it’s to die for. I don’t read the comic books, though I’ve heard they’re wonderful. The most I know about this fandom, this series and the world it exists in is the Justice League when I was young and the DC Wiki that I have come to read religiously (as well as a good friend who is in love with it).
Yet something about the Blue Lanterns has struck me in a way I can’t quite put my finger on. I hardly know a thing about them as a whole, much less on an individual basis, but somehow they give me the one thing I do know about them:
Hope.
It’s not easy all the time and plainly, it’s frightening when I’m not myself. Yet having a little reminder that sometimes it’s not so much about the will to power through it, as it is just recognizing that there’s more. That there is something afterwards, that what you feel is just passing.
That reminder is different for everyone. For now- for me- it’s the Blue Lantern symbol.
A reminder that all will be well.

*hugs* GLTAS has amazing messages as does Green Lantern. For whatever problems DC has, those are the messages that shine through most. All will be well, and hope is not easily destroyed even in great times of fear. Hope isn’t as fragile as some people think and it is incredibly hard to break.
I think that’s the message that has stuck with me most from Green Lantern. The part where the ring comes and says “You have the ability to overcome great fear.” it doesn’t say they’ll never be afraid or that fear is a bad thing. It doesn’t say that all the fear is behind them and now every second they’ll live completely brave and fearless, it says they have the ability to overcome it. That they’re strong enough to push through for something better and not let fear hold them back. It acknowledges that it’s a constant battle, but it’s also one that can be won.
And with the Blue Lanterns that’s true as well. They have the ability to instill great hope. They bring hope to others. They remind others that things can and will be better and even in the darkest of moments, they give people something incredibly strong to hold onto and that there is something worth fighting for. There is something after the darkness to hold onto.
I think that’s why out of all the corps, Green Lanterns and Blue Lanterns working together is incredibly powerful. Because there is the hope for something better, mixed with the desire, the courage and will to fight, and knowing what you’re fighting for, the ability to overcome and also instill that in others and let them know everything will be alright. Fear and darkness can’t last forever. Eventually light breaks through as people grab onto hope, and face the fear and make tomorrow better. I’m so glad that the Blue Lantern has meaning for you and it’s giving you hope. Because I think that’s it’s true purpose for those living outside the comic and in the actual real world. Their purpose is to give hope that all will be well. And it will be.

Instantly made that less epic in my head by misreading it as “The crayola has arrived!” Crayons for the win.
